Speaking from his palace in Gulu, the cultural leader cautioned that political competition must never fracture shared identity, heritage, and destiny collectively.

He reminded voters that Acholi history reflects resilience built through solidarity, not division, especially during moments of national decision-making and collective responsibility.

Achana emphasized that elections are temporary events, while social cohesion remains permanent, shaping peace, development, and cultural survival for future generations together.

The chief warned politicians against exploiting clan loyalties, grievances, or youth frustrations, saying such tactics weaken communities long after campaigns have ended.

He urged elders, religious leaders, and civil groups to actively promote dialogue, tolerance, and peaceful participation throughout the electoral period this year.

According to Achana, disagreements over parties or candidates should never translate into hostility between neighbors, families, or neighboring villages during campaigns season.

He called upon security agencies to act impartially, protecting voters and candidates equally, while respecting cultural values and human rights across Acholi.

Youth were specifically encouraged to reject manipulation, verify information carefully, and remember their responsibility as future custodians of Acholi unity and peace.

The paramount chief stressed that development, land security, and post-conflict recovery depend heavily on maintaining trust among communities during sensitive political periods.

Local residents welcomed the message, saying traditional leaders play a vital role in calming tensions during heated electoral seasons within Northern Uganda.

Analysts note that similar appeals previously helped prevent violence in Acholi sub-region, reinforcing confidence in peaceful democratic processes and inclusive political participation.

As campaigns intensify, Achana’s statement stands as a moral reminder that unity remains the Acholi people’s greatest strength beyond ballots and parties.

He concluded by declaring, “Politics shouldn’t divide us Acholis,” calling for calm, wisdom, and brotherhood throughout the elections across the entire region.
