Gulu City Council has announced plans to conduct a citywide clean-up exercise following the heavy littering caused by campaign posters.

Currently, campaign posters can be seen plastered on buildings, electric poles, trees, and road barricades across the city.

While some have been torn down by natural elements such as rain and wind leaving trails of litter and will require manual removal.

Speaking on the matter, Innocent Ahimbisibwe, the Gulu City Town Clerk revealed that he will collaborate with property owners to ensure all remaining posters are removed.

The 2026 general elections, which began with campaign activities in November, are scheduled to conclude on February 4th.

Ahimbisibwe also noted that GCC currently does not generate any local revenue from campaign posters.

The clean-up initiative aims to restore Gulu’s urban appearance and promote responsible political campaigning.

Council also emphasized the importance of maintaining a clean and organized city environment even during election season.
