Gulu District has officially released the 2025 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) results, compiled from 49 sitting centres across the district, revealing encouraging performance trends in both government-aided that is UPEand private schools.
According to the summary, a total of 1,996 candidates sat for the Primary Leaving Examinations.
Overall Performance by Division in Primary Leaving Examinations, PLE.
- Division One: 28 candidates
- Division Two: 679 candidates
- Division Three: 596 candidates
- Division Four: 301 candidates
- Unclassified (U): 362 candidates
- Absent (X): 30 candidates

Out of the 1,996 candidates:
- 957 were male
- 1,039 were female
Female candidates slightly outnumbered their male counterparts, reflecting continued progress in girls’ participation in education across the district.
Best Performing School in Primary Leaving Examinations, PLE.
The best-performing pupil emerged from Omoti Hill Primary School in Patiko Sub-county, scoring an impressive Aggregate 9 (Division One).
Notably, Omoti Hill Primary School is a government-aided institution, underscoring the growing strength and impact of public education in Gulu District.
Education stakeholders have welcomed the results, citing them as a positive indicator of improved teaching standards and learner commitment, especially in rural sub-counties.
District education officials have congratulated all candidates and urged parents, teachers, and community leaders to continue supporting learners as they transition to secondary education.
The outstanding performance of Omoti Hill Primary School further proves that government-aided schools, when properly supported, can compete favorably and produce top-performing learners.
Further more, these results reflect the collective effort of teachers, parents, school administrators, and learners across Gulu District. Despite challenges such as limited resources and long distances to school in some communities, candidates demonstrated resilience and determination.
The 2025 PLE results stand as a reminder that with dedication, community support, and investment in education, Gulu District continues to build a brighter future for its children.
