Kia, a 21 year old, second year Bachelor of Business Administration student at Lira University, reportedly sustained a deep cut to the neck during the confrontation.

As she raised an alarm and attempted to escape, her younger brother, Emmanuel Odongo, 19, a student at Lango College, intervened and was stabbed multiple times

Their mother, Annet Olenga, confirmed the attack, stating that both children were rushed to Lira University Teaching Hospital.

Police Link Attack to Troubled Relationship

North Kyoga Regional Police Spokesperson Patrick Okema said preliminary investigations indicate the assault stemmed from a troubled relationship between Kia and the suspect.

Okema explained that the pair began dating in early 2025 but separated in November of the same year due to repeated violent behavior by Oceng.

After the breakup, Kia reportedly entered a new relationship a development that allegedly angered the suspect.

Police say a phone exchange earlier on the day of the attack is believed to have escalated tensions, prompting Oceng to travel from Dokolo District to Lira City that evening.
