A tragic incident has shocked residents of Amuru District after two four-year-old boys were discovered dead at the scene of a wild bush fire in Aguny Village, Guruguru Sub County.

The deceased have been identified as Deogratius Kizito, son of George Lawrence Obalo, and Daniel Odong, son of Sunday Komakech. Both families are residents of Gira-Gira Village in Guruguru Sub County.
Bodies Discovered by Children in Amuru District
The bodies were discovered at approximately 7:00 pm on Thursday evening by a group of children who had gone to search for wild passion fruits, locally known as Oceyo.
The discovery was made in a bush area about eight kilometres away from the victims’ homes.
According to Patrick Komakech Kibwota, the L.CIII Chairperson of Guruguru Sub County, the two boys had gone missing earlier on February 6th at around 10:00 am.
The children reportedly left home while pretending to herd cattle.
Last Movements Before Disappearance
Local leaders say the boys were last seen walking toward Guruguru Sub County.
Witnesses reported that they made several stopovers along the way, asking for drinking water before continuing their journey.
Preliminary findings from local authorities suggest that the children may have been killed before the bush around their bodies was deliberately set on fire.
The exact cause of death will be confirmed following a postmortem examination.
Police Investigation Underway
Police have since retrieved the bodies and transported them to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital for postmortem.
Authorities have launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
More details are expected as investigations continue.
