Uganda Politics: Odongo Otto Sounds Alarm on NBS TV
Meanwhile, appearing on NBS Television, Aruu County MP Hon. Odongo Otto delivered a strong appeal urging government action over Bobi Wine’s safety.
Moreover, Otto argued that Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, should not face criminal treatment because he lives openly within Kampala.
Additionally, he emphasized that authorities should assist and protect the opposition leader rather than pursuing him as a fugitive.
Bobi Wine Safety Concerns Spark Calls for Dialogue
However, Otto stressed that dialogue and negotiations remain necessary tools for resolving the growing political standoff peacefully.
Furthermore, he warned that continued silence from the state risks worsening tensions in Kampala and across the Buganda region.
Notably, Otto reminded viewers that Kampala sits in Buganda, where most voters rejected the current government in previous elections.
Kampala Stability at Risk, Warns Odongo Otto
Consequently, Otto cautioned that ignoring Bobi Wine’s situation resembles sitting on a ticking time bomb or sleeping volcano.
Similarly, he warned that the city could explode if political grievances continue to be dismissed or minimized by authorities.
Therefore, Otto urged leaders to take the matter seriously before unrest escalates into widespread instability.
Religious Leaders Asked to Push National Dialogue
Meanwhile, Otto called on religious leaders and pastors to engage President Yoweri Museveni and advocate for national dialogue.
Additionally, he argued that faith leaders possess moral authority capable of bridging political divisions and easing tensions nationally.
Likewise, he said their involvement could encourage calm, trust, and constructive engagement among rival political actors.
Warning Over Bobi Wine’s Life Raises Alarm
Notably, Otto issued a stark warning about potential consequences if Robert Kyagulanyi were found dead under unclear circumstances.
Furthermore, he stated that such an event could ignite violent reactions across Kampala and beyond.
Consequently, he described Robert Kyagulanyi as a vulnerable political figure whose safety directly affects national stability.
NUP Engagement and Power-Sharing Debate
Moreover, Otto said the state should formally engage the National Unity Platform in meaningful political discussions.
Similarly, he questioned why dialogue cannot include conversations about Bobi Wine potentially serving as Prime Minister.
Ultimately, Otto maintained that protecting Bobi Wine and embracing dialogue serves the best interests of Uganda’s peace, unity, and democratic future.
